Provides a timely, single point of entry for all adult Mental Health and Addiction Services in the Cowichan Valley.
Services Provided
  • Screening, assessment and treatment planning.
  • Referrals to the most appropriate service, team or community resource.
  • Connection to mental health and substance use services such as counselling, psychoeducational groups and addiction medicine consultation.
How to Access Services
  • Available for individuals aged 19+ years old who are living in the Cowichan Valley
  • Self-refer by calling to schedule an appointment with the team at 250-709-3040
  • Accepts referrals from individuals, clinicians, community agencies and health and social services professionals
  • Psychiatrist consultations require a referral from a family physician or primary care provider.
The Rapid Access Clinic (RAC) in Duncan is a walk-in clinic offered through Mental Health and Substance Use. Adults can drop-in for one crisis counselling session with a mental health and substance use clinician (non-psychiatry) and receive information and referrals for connecting with the most appropriate service.
How to Access RAC Services:
  • No referral needed; walk-in appointments are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Individuals are seen based on the initial assessment and priority process
  • Same day appointments are not guaranteed
  • Mental health housing cannot be accessed through the Rapid Access Clinic
Crisis and Emergency Services: The Community Response Team provides urgent response for adults who may be suicidal or in a psychiatric crisis through the 24-Hour Vancouver Island Crisis Line 1-888-494-3888.

Intake Hours of Operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. RAC Duncan Hours of Operation are Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Both services are closed on statutory holidays.
