Early Stage Support Groups - For individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia

Condition Specific Support, Mental Health - Adult & Senior, and Seniors Services

Provided by Alzheimer Society of BC

These groups are there for people who want to inform themselves with current information that will help improve quality of life with the disease. A tele-support group is also offered.
For people in the early stages of dementia, the early stage support groups provide an opportunity to:
  • Learn about living with dementia and its progression
  • Share feelings and common experiences
  • Exchange practical coping strategies
  • Participate in discussions
  • Encouraging early planning and encouraging people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias to actively engage in protecting and maintaining their physical and emotional health
All of the support groups operate on the Information and Mutual Aid Model.
