Early Psychosis Intervention Program - Youth - Comox Valley Area

Provides early identification and treatment for youth up to 19 years of age living in the Comox Valley area who are experiencing their first psychotic episode.
A program that involves EPI (early psychosis intervention) informed services to clients under 19. Provides continuous intervention for adolescents experiencing serious psychiatric difficulties, such as difficult to treat depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, or thought disorders, who are at risk of hospitalization. This program is for youth up to 19 years of age living in the Comox area, including Courtenay, Oyster River, and Fanny Bay.

Basic early psychosis services provided include:
  • Complete assessment of symptoms and physical functioning
  • Medication management
  • Case manager
  • Family support and education
  • Client education
  • Treatment of problems in living and other mental health issues
In addition to these basic early intervention services, more comprehensive services may be offered including:
  • Groups (in partnership with psychiatric day hospital)
  • Public education regarding early identification and intervention
Referral and Access
  • Anyone can refer as intake services include self-referral.
  • Open Monday to Friday; call or walk-in to start process
  • After hours call the 24-hour Crisis Line at 1-888-494-3888
