Gabriola Community Medical Clinic

Provided by Gabriola Medical Clinic

Provides acute care and urgent care services to assess and treat medical conditions, and stabilize for hospital transfer if required. Serves Gabriola Island.
Also provides primary medical care and chronic disease management by appointment. The following services are provided:
  • Full Service Family Practice: The doctors at the clinic provide the full range of primary care services to patients, who range from newborn babies to the very elderly. Patients are welcome to approach doctors about sexual health, LGBTQ+ health, family planning, termination of pregnancy, drug and alcohol problems, palliative medicine, and medical assistance in dying (MAiD).
  • Urgent and Emergency Care: Urgent care is provided for the community. The physicians are equipped to manage serious problems related to illness or injury. Close collaboration with BC Ambulance ensures that community members can be managed and stabilized locally and then transported safely to hospital following emergencies.
  • Mental Health, Addictions and Social Support: A Social Worker, Mental Health Clinician, and Mental Health and Addictions Nurse are available at the clinic. Patients can self refer by using the Gabriola Medical Outreach Form, or have a referral from a doctor.
  • Home and Community Care: The home care nurse does wound care, palliative care and post-operative care and works out of the clinic daily. The rest of the team, which includes occupational and physical therapy, social work, respiratory therapy, seniors’ mental health, and nurse case management, visit Gabriola and the clinic on a regular basis.
